Yummy Easy Cobbler

Though I have lived all over the states, I am a southern girl at heart and my hands down, favorite southern dessert is peach cobbler. Last Thanksgiving, I hosted my family for a traditional, southern dinner that included fried turkey, dressing (not stuffing), sweet potato pie and all the normal holiday flair. Because I cooked most of the main dishes, I wanted a simple cobbler that would be stress free to make. I found the perfect recipe on MyRecipes.

Looks yummy right? Be sure to use the baking dish size suggested by the recipe. This picture was not my first attempt. I used a large dish and served ugly, but tasty, cobbler to my family. I have made this cobbler many times since last fall with a few minor adjustments to the recipe: I almost always use almond milk, and reduce the sugar to 1/2 cup for batter and 1tbsp for the fruit. In the fall, I use green apples instead of peaches for the perfect harvest treat.

And when my sweet tooth is severe, I top the apple cobbler with caramel, toasted pecans, and a little whipped cream.

Finally, cobbler makes a great mason jar gift. Pack jars with cobbler, seal, and add a ribbon or gift tag for presentation.  When you make this cobbler and love it, let me know in the comments. I’m certain it will become your go-to, dessert favorite.
